Ballroom

Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world.

Ballroom dance may refer, at its widest definition, to almost any type of partner dancing as recreation. However there are two main styles which are ballroom and Latin, while differing in technique and rhythm they are both fantastic styles to learn.

What you will learn at the studio:
Beginners – Basic steps with a few variations, general lead/follow, basic techniques. The aim of the beginner level class is to create a social dancer who feels comfortable dancing with any partner on any floor.

Improvers – For the slightly more experienced dancer either with a little knowledge of ballroom dance already or dance experience in any genre who is a fast learner. This class is designed to move at a quicker speed, focusing more on technique, control, footwork, posture, poise and more intricate movements.

Ballroom/Latin dances:
Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Cha cha , Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive
Also: Hustle, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Merengue, Bolero, Mambo

To become a good confident social dancer takes time and practice so at the end of each lesson you are able to film the instructor showing you the steps you have learned in that lesson so you can practice between weeks.

Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes that won’t slip off your feet easily or don’t grip the floor too much. Dance shoes are a great investment especially for the women.

NOTE: Please remember you are dancing with a partner so personal hygiene is important.

Do I need a partner?

You don’t need a partner to join our classes. There are several people who come alone and we rotate partners during the class.

Am I too old to dance?

You are never too old to dance or to learn to dance! We have adults of all ages taking our classes so you will not feel out of place.
