New class – Teen Hip Hop

Your kids are gonna love this teen hip hop class! Hard beats, cool moves and a class full of energy!

Ilenia teaches LA Style hip hop which is a mix of movement originating from contemporary, modern, lyrical and mixed with the Hip Hop “New School” style.

It’s based on a “fast and slow” technique, which results in fast changes between very slow and smooth movement to very fast, powerful and rigid movement. The essence is to make the choreography match the lyrics, and tell the story that represents the meaning of the song.

The class is held on Sundays at 6pm – 7pm, AED 65 per class.

Suitable for ages 12 to 16 years.

You spoke and we listened! For those of you who’ve been wanting to take our beginner contemporary dance classes, we’ve moved the class to a 7pm start time.

Beginner drop-in class: Tuesday 7 – 8pm, 65 AED per class

We’ve also got a new set of 5-week courses starting 17th November, 2013. Spaces are limited so pre-registration is highly recommended.

THANK YOU!!! We’ve received an overwhelming response to our Free Class Week!

***Please note that we’ve added a few more classes to the schedule: Contemporary on Tuesday at 7.30pm – 8.30pm, Ballet on Wednesday at 7pm – 8pm, and Hip Hop on Thursday at 8pm – 9.30pm***

You’ve been wanting to try out that particular dance class for awhile and now you can… at no risk! For a whole week (20 – 26th Oct), James & Alex Dance Studios will be offering a variety of dance classes FREE OF CHARGE.

Choose from ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tango, salsa, salsa body movement, bachata and Zumba. Spaces are limited so pre-book now! Pre-booking can be done easily online here. Please note that when booking online, ONLY the classes labelled “FREE CLASS” are part of the Free Class Week.

Aimee Despres, an experienced contemporary / ballet dancer and instructor, can take any aspiring dancer to the next level. CONTEMPORARY DROP-IN CLASSES:
(No pre-registration required. Please arrive early to pay / sign-in before the start of class.)
Beginners: Tuesday 6:30 – 7:30pm
Improvers / Intermediates: Thursday 6:30 – 7:30pm

CONTEMPORARY COURSES (6 WEEKS):

Musical Theatre Summer Camps with Hayley’s Comet

Musical Theatre Summer Camp: Acting, singing, dancing, games and a showcase at the end of each week! These unique summer camps focus on a different theme every week.

NEW monthly Tango Milonga – La Baldosa

It’s finally here… Tango dancing in a relaxed, friendly, casual atmosphere!

Come join us for our MILONGA PARTY held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday, 9pm – 12am at James and Alex Dance Studios. The Milongas are hosted by tango instructor Gustavo Arboleda.

FREE ENTRY to the Milonga but feel free to also join Gustavo’s Wednesday tango class from 8-9pm (cost 50 dhs) before the Milonga.

***Please note that the beginner/improver class on Wednesday 6th November is cancelled but the Milonga is still ON.***

Kids Ballet on Saturdays

As the result of several requests to offer children’s classes on Saturdays, we are now launching Ballet classes on Saturdays starting this this week 26th January 2013.

The Ballet class for 3 to 6yrs will be at 12.30pm to 1.30pm and the class for 7 to 11yrs will be at 1.30pm until 2.30pm. The term will run for 10 weeks starting the 26th January until the end of March, rates are AED 550 for the full term.

Right on time for the ‘Back to School’ season, the James & Alex Dance Studios are launching a brand new kids program. Composed of mainly Ballet, Jazz and Salsa, kids of all ages will now have the opportunity to aspire to be the next Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers.

Split between 4 age groups, catering to the little ones as young as 3 years old to teenagers up to 16 years old, classes will address all of their dancing needs. Classes will be held over 3 month terms, following the school year calendar.
